..
Now before we even begin let me admit, I’m not quite sure I even get this myself, but here goes…
You go to a restaurant and order your food from a takeaway menu, right, no problem so far…
But, the food you order is not from the restaurant you are in…!!??
in-fact they don’t even have a kitchen…
Are you still with me?, great, because now comes the hard part…
The food you order comes from any one of the restaurants in the neighborhood around you. !!!
O.K. lets pause here a moment…
Because you may wish to go back and re-read that a couple of times, just to let it permeate, it took me more than a few re-reads, but then, I never did claim to be an intellectual giant.
.
Well, this is the novel new concept called appropriately “FOOD FACILITY” dreamed up by some very lateral thinking group in Amsterdam, Maybe its all that stuff they smoke in coffee bars over there.
From my reading so far: I believe it was part community art event, and part serious business test.
.
The thing was, after I “got it” I couldn’t put it out of my mind, I keep thinking about it, it’s like one of those horrid little melody’s that you go round humming all day, it just will not go away…
.
I keep wondering if it could be made to work, could you create a business model for this?
It’s kinda intriguing in a silly sort of way…
Just think, If you could make it pay and build a loyal clientele, you could shift this “restaurant thingy” around, all over the place, one week by the sea, one week in the park…
.
Anyway I’ve done my job by telling you, hopefully this will exorcise it from brain, and after you hum it for a couple of days and come up with some brilliant way to make it work, please tell us all… that is, just after you have registered it as a global franchise.
WATCH OUT MACKERS AND STARBUCKS… “New idea coming through…”
.
I’m sorry I can’t find out much more about it… However if you do know please let us all in on it.
Now if you will excuse me, I’m off for a nap, my brain is hurting!

I think its got loads of mileage. I like Indian Food(but not the flock wallpaper), my wife likes the food at our local Chinese (but not unwanted attentions of one of the waiters).
So you create somewhere with a wonderful ambience that we both like, and we visit you once a week.
But as for a business model? What premium would people be prepared to pay for “ambience”? when all the profit in a restaurant is in your food margin.
I can see why it has been an irritating buzz in your head, as it will now become one in mine
Well it’s really just like a food court isn’t it, all you have to do is charge the restaurants a fee per order or fee “rent”. Make it a ncie environment with friendly staff and people will flock to the “restaurant” because that way if one person wants indian and another wants mexican and a third just wants fish and chips then you’re sorted aren’t you! The key is to make the environment more pleasant than sitting at home instead. Maybe even get a few places that don’t deliver (and your staff would go and get it for a slight additional fee).

Sorry about that I noticed a spelling mistake and accidentally posted twice due to my slow browser….
