It is a bit of fun that will be noticed.
After all, it’s not that easy to differentiate coffee, when everyone else is claiming they have the best beans and Baristas.

A Coffee Cup that changes color with temperature.
The cup shown below is promoting energy saving or some such diabolical Nostradamical catastrophe, but the same device would be even better for Advertising your cafe.
It would be sure to grab a whole lot of attention from friends family and workmates and is a whole lot more appropriate than (YAWN!) fridge magnets.

Are you a little tired of your boring polished brass and varnished wood decor?
Would your restaurant benefit from a decor that got your customers talking? Talking so much, that the news media started paying attention and giving you some FREE publicity?
well, Ken Burgin (who always sends me links that are interesting and entertaining) from http://www.ProfitableHospitality.com has just sent me these gems. Thanks Ken, I think!

Buns & Guns is located in Beirut, Lebanon, Their chosen theme is military - from the décor and names of the menu items to the helicopter sounds that play constantly in the background.
You can order an M16 Carbine meat sandwich, a Mortar burger or a Terrorist meal (which ironically just happens to be vegetarian).
The restaurant’s slogan, “Sandwiches Can Kill You”.

In Tokyo Japan you can become a cannibal…
‘Nyotaimori’ is a Japanese dinning tradition that literally means ‘female body plate’, and this restaurant named after the rather salacious tradition of eating sushi and sashimi off a nude woman’s body (doesn’t everybody eat like that?) takes this concept to a whole new level.
An edible body, with dough ‘skin’ and ‘blood’ sauce is wheeled into the room on a hospital trolley and placed on your table.
The hostess begins the meal by cutting into the body with a scalpel and then you dig in, cutting open the body to reveal edible ‘organs’. Oh Yummy!!!

This has to be one of the greatest ways to add value to “Gods Own Nectar”
And of putting a smile on the customers face.

In fact it would suit a lot of the better known brands.
But I have to admit, it will guarantee this product gets more than its fair share of free publicity.

What a great way to get your customers telling their friends about your products…
Put chocolate nails in their favorite croissant bagel or hot bread roll.
It,s all about doing something different with ingredients that are taken for granted. immediately you do, you have created a powerful differentiation and added to the perceived value of your product.

Messages that are left hanging on car doors and other surprising places are a great way to grab attention at low cost.
You can absolutely guarantee these devices get more active attention than many far more expensive Advertising campaigns.
To supercharge your message include a powerful offer to give the reader an incentive to visit your business.

This is so very good on so many levels…
Special congratulations should go to the bakery for avoiding the cliche and NOT “using their loaf”
It is one of my favorite business cards of all time.

I dare anybody to resist reacting to this clever Advertising promotion.
The client Canadian Sait Polytechnic is recruiting fundraisers and the copy on the back of each note reads:
“Apparently, you have a knack for finding money. Interested in a career in fund raising? Let’s chat.”

How do you add value to the serving of a spirit?
Or even turn it into something your customers will remember and tell their friends and families about.
After all, you pour the stuff in a glass chuck in some sugary flavored goop and… well how about adding a Titanic ice cube… I love it.

Each day I get many pics and links sent to me by readers who know I like bizarre stuff…
Many don’t have a lot to do with my editorial bent (whatever the hell that is!) but are great fun.
So I have decided ( It’s my blog so I can do what I like) that each Friday I will publish all the non related fun stuff that comes through my email, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Go on meat eaters, defend your territory, Restaurateurs, I dare you to put a copy of this in the meat section of your menu.

Now I know why I don’t play Scrabble

Now I know that, I guess I should go there…
